You should have gone and gotten something to eat that was made out of meat then walked by them to see if they attacked you.
Probably what I would've done. Even though I don't really like meat at all.

I probably would have offered them some.

PeTA is like a scary cult... Just the way they act. They're like... Crazed.

I was in a fur store in Chicago once. I didn't buy anything, I was just walking through to get to another street and when I came out there was this MOB of PeTA people. I was wearing a coat with a (fake) fur trim. They must have assumed it was real owing to the fact that I'd just exited a fur store.

They looked at me like I was Hitler or something. ):

I'm all for animal rights, don't get me wrong. But PeTA just takes it way too fucking far. They remind me of brainwashed cult members.

Oh my god, PETA. They need to get dragged off to the loony bin ASAP, if you ask me -- I'm for animal rights + humane treatment, I'm against people who wear fur for fashion, but... they're really extreme with what they do. :/ (also, leather and meat ftw, both are important) They remind me of insane cultists, except they're not painting everything blue. XD BLUE BLUE

What would I have done, you ask? This, being the devil-may-care smart-ass that I am.

Then I could call for the security guards and eat my meat-food-thing in peace, all while smirking. :P

Some PETA chick jumped me while I was eating pizza that had (gasp) pepperoni on it. Her whole rant was based on the "fact" that if I had any idea how terrible, grizzly and unbearable it was to kill, slaughter and prepare my own meat, rather than let others do it for me in some anonymous slaughterhouse, I would become a vegan like her and see the "error" of my ways. I pointed out the fact that I was a hunter, that I had killed, slaughtered and prepared my own meat, and actually preferred doing so over paying other people to do the dirty work for me. She stared at me a moment, her rant derailed, until she settled on throwing the oldest and lamest comeback possible at me:

"Well prove it!"

I took out my wallet, slipped out my driver's license to confirm what my name was with a piece of photo ID, then slipped out my Outdoors card with my name printed on it, complete with a 3 year license for small game, conservation fishing and two deer licenses from the past two years stuck to it. She spluttered and then walked away, and I got invited to sit with a few nice looking boys at another table who happened to be hunters too.

Silly PETA.

I've never had any run-ins with them, thank God. I believe in animal rights and am definitely anti-fur but, like others have said before me, they are cazed. They act as if PETA is a religion and that any who don't follow their 'religion' will burn in hell for all eternity. They don't seem to understand the opinions, views and lifestyles of other people.

It takes all sorts to create a world. It's a shame they don't seem to be able to comprehend this.

Happened to me not too far back, more or less same situation... but after kindly refusing their little pamphlet and bumper stickers, I gave them a little booklet of coupons that I had for a nice steakhouse.
10 ounce ribeye for only 7.99!
Can&;t beat that!

They were in such a state of shock and indignation that I was able to just walk away.

I would have attempted to walk away but they sound very determined D: So probably would have just tried to end the conversation asap

There's this annoying guy that always approaches me when i come into town, i don't even know what he's trying to sell/promote because i always just ignore him. Anyways, he seems to have two lines "Are you two (three, four etc) sisters?", if i'm with female friends, or "Hey, you dropped your smile!" It's like wtf, no we are not sisters and you know that you moron, i'm about five inches shorter than her, look nothing like her in terms of appearance or build. I don't know what he's trying to get at with that line o-O And as for "you dropped your smile", are you trying to say i look miserable? Great way to get me to stop and talk to you...

It's really a shame that PETA has gone so far overboard so many times, because they are right about a lot of things. Slaughterhouses ARE horrible, and those awful pictures they show are real. I agree with them to a point, I just wish they didn't get so crazy about stupid stuff.

PETA has good intentions, but their methods are terrible. They also euthanize a huge percentage of the animals they 'rescue', and they don't respect anyone else's point of view. If they had less extreme methods, more people would probably listen to them, giving them more leverage.

I agree with what they try to do, but they go way overboard. Example: sea kittens. People would still go fishing for sea kittens. Accept it.

Even though I am a vegetarian, I am very anti-PETA because of their harsh tactics and lack of respect for other people&;s lifestyles. I&;m not sure what I would have done if this had happened to me, but I probably would have just smiled and nodded. I wouldn&;t want to start an argument with a group that extreme. They&;d probably launch a whole crusade against me. Haha.

Exactly what I was going to say. xD

Shrug In my opinion hunting is more humane than buying beef, and more responsible. Most people don't get that, but then most people only notice idiot hunters and not the responsible ones :P

At least we don't run around comparing shoppers with meat in their carts to Nazis who participated in the Holocaust and tell their children that their parents are murderers.

Also, because I can

They threw paint at me once. :[ Luckily, they didn't have such good aim, so I yelled at them for a little and waddled off along my merry way. I do tend to ignore the once in the area, though. Besides that incident, the ones in Montreal haven't done much in places I've been in except for setting up booths with the same pictures I've seen on different ones claiming that the same animals are owned by different companies and have to be 'rescued'... from time to time, though, I've stopped to mention the reassurance of the pictures and got some really nasty comments or funny conspiracy theories about me being a doctor that experiments on the animals. -3- Yeah, not old enough to go through med school. Mostly, though, I go on their Deviantart and post the lyrics to the 'Pork' song. P: It helps to let of steam whenever I see their stupid commercial on television.

Besides that..... They got me to think about fur and change my opinions on it. I used to be against wearing it and never gave further thought, but now I love to wear fur/skins now that I sat down and thought about it. P: So.... warm and comfy. ❤

I actually have been in a situation like that. My fiance and I were walking downtown, and we were stopped by a PETA memeber asking us to sign a petition or something.

My fiance is kind of a dick to strangers for his own amusement, so he started up a debate with him. It wasn't until half-way through the debate did he reveal that the two of us are both vegetarians, and that we both hate PETA. At that point I jumped in with my whole "If you don't want people who eat meat to preach to you, don't preach to them - respect people's CHOICE" and the whole "PETA gives vegetarians a bad name" bit. Eventually my fiance had to pull me away 'cause I started to get angry... hahaha!
