As others have said, if it's just lying there, it's mine. >:] I wouldn't tell anyone about it. My parents would make me return it, and then it would be sent to the government or something. :L And, yes, I would actually save it all.
If I saw who dropped it, or if someone was asking if anyone found $500 on the ground and they WEREN'T drunk/high, I'd return it. Other than that...
SHOPPING SPREE! 8D
And NEVER TELL ZE PARENTS ABOUT IT. They'd make me be a good example to my brother, who just happens to have $1k hidden in his room somewhere, and turn it in to the authorities. D:
Seeing how I found a credit card in Target and didn't really care, I'm going to say my response to finding $500 dollars would be more or less the same. "Oh hey look, someone dropped a bunch of money. Oh well." continues walking Unless there's something recognizable to it, like tape or writing, I would just walk over it. If there is something recognizable on it and I'm in a store or something, I'll give it to the front desk. People can't just walk up to the counter and say "I dropped some money that had tape going down the middle and some writing in blue pen on the back" unless they actually dropped it.
Hell, I'd keep it. ANYONE can go up to the police and be like, I LOST MI MONEY!!!
I'd probably buy a few Mystical Donadak Plushies.
The rest would be for my car fund.
Hmm. Given that I am crazy for fashion right now -- probably go to H&M. :)
If there was absolutely no way of figuring out who lost it i would prolly do something nice for my family like take them out to dinner, buy myself something stupid then save the rest.
I once fond $20 bucks in the grocery store sitting under a can of refried beans, and I found my piano teachers diamond ring sitting in her driveway she gave me a moth of free piano lessons which would have been cool but I was about to quit so then I had to wait another month before my grandma would let me.
I would pay off my last credit card, which is about $300. Not entirely sure I would keep the money, however. That is what I'd do with it if I decided not to turn it in. I'd probably spend the rest on clothes or CDs.
I would either buy me a PS3 or Wii. =D Or buy some of those plushies that give you extra pet slots.
THIS.
People should be more careful with their money ! Whenever I have a lot of money on me it's safely tucked away and I check for it basically every 3 seconds if it's somewhere open like a pocket. I'd be in tears if I lost $500.
I'd buy an iPod touch and go shopping with the rest
If I didn't know who dropped it or whoever dropped it was using it for drugs or whatever, I'd keep it.
Spend a little and keep a little bit for myself. Something would be itching at me to give some to a charity, sooooooo. I dunno. I can't honestly say I would or wouldn't. But now that I think about it.
If no one claimed it then I'd save some, spend the rest on clothes or video games or something. :D
I'd find the owner say I found you're money, and when they made a grab for it, I'd pull back. "I said I found it! I didn't say you could fricken have it back!". lol I'm so mean.
When I was in like 3rd grade, I found $650 in a bush at the school park during recess. In shock, I quickly pocketed it. I showed it to my dad when he picked me up, and the next day he took it to the front office. When we got there, there was this lady in tears who had lost money. Turns out her little boy took the money and hid it because he though his mom was going to get in trouble for having it. Something about government assistance, apartment rent, I dunno...
So yeah, while that money could be "dirty money," it could have been an honest Joe's rent. Sure it's stupid to walk around with that much cash, but a lot of people do it. Maybe a mom took her little tyke to the park and he was messing around in her purse, who knows.
That being said, I probably would keep the money. While cash can be identified, it's not often that people write down the numbers to have on hand if they lose it. I probably would try to stick around to see if anyone looks around frantically, and if I found out they were looking for the amount of money I found, I would give it back. I would feel bad about keeping it though. I know how it feels to be poor and have nothing, and lose the little you do have. But at the same time, I'm a greedy bitch and I love to buy things.
I would probably put $500 on a deposit for a ragdoll kitten. Been wanting one for a while but they're $750 around here.
I probably would have brought it home and put it in my bank account to go towards college. Now, if it was in a wallet with a name in it, then I would turn it in.
