I know it's a little scary to not be at a weight you're comfortable with, but weight loss is not a month, or even a year. If you want to lose weight, you probably want to keep it off too? That's a lifetime. Eat right, get outside (do gardening, volunteer for work or other activities, like I just went to Relay For Life yesterday, whatever gets you moving, doesn't need to be "exercise"), live life. I think however, the most important thing for you right now is to change your outlook. I weighed 140 when I was 15 and 5'3". At 16 I weighed 104 and I still wasn't happy. I'm now 5'4" and 115-120, and I'm not entirely accepting of myself, but it's still a much better mindset than where I used to be. The way you're showing your thoughts right now, nothing you do will make it better, because you will still interpret what you see harshly.
Again, on the exercise front, you don't need a gym, you just need to get out there. People use hundreds of calories of exercise at a gym when those same hundreds of calories could be spent helping in volunteer activities that go to help people, not line business pockets. Plus, you might have to lift heavy-ish stuff at volunteer events (moving flats of water bottles for instance XD); that causes muscle fibers to develop microscopic tears, healing those tears will require extra calories over the course of the rest of the day. And in the process of healing your body puts a little more muscle in so it isn't quite so hard next time. Adding and maintaining muscle burns, dahdum, more calories every day! Not a whole lot more, mind you, but a little, and that's not a bad thing eh?
Exercise also causes your weight to rise by retaining extra glucose (I believe bound with water? Not entirely sure. Water and/or glucose) to refuel your muscles. Since you're using them more, it decides it needs to keep more fuel for them, sensible, right? It usually levels out :)
140 when you're 5'5 is not bad at all...but it's your body I guess.
I would say watch what you are eating. That helped me a ton! I was about 30 pounds overweight a year ago and I am now only 5 pounds overweight. If I actually got out and exercised, I would proably weight a great amount less right now.
Holy fuck. I wish I was as healthy and skinny as you are. ... I guess follow everyone else's advice here. And I will too. o-o noms celery
DONT eat less, just dont stuff your face. it doesnt matter how much you eat, it all depends on how you excersize. ask a friend to come over and walk around the neighborhood, you can spend time with your friends plus a good way to excersize, and if you live by a pool swimming REALLY slims you down after just a few days cuz it is using every muscle in your body. :) i hope this helps.
Viruses are the way to go you'll loose weight like crazy. I went from 103 pounds to 95 in no time at all. But seriously if you loose to much weight you'll look sickly. Plus ,re-gaining the wieght I lost has been harder than I thought.
What would you consider your ideal weight?
Water! Best stuff out there.
And having no deserts (sorry D; ) and dancing.
all of that I recommend. No stress is a must, so exercise is a must as well. Sorry again.
Hope this works out. Keep us posted? [Edit] Oh yeah. And don't believe anybody if they say you can lose weight safely and quickly. Losing more then 2.5 pounds a week is dangerous. And it makes you feel like shit. If you want to lose weight, well... it takes time.
My ideal weight is 100. Don't say it's too skinny, because I was chubby at 110. it would fit my bone structure and body type.
I'm like 110 and 5'2", so I'd say you're overreaching a bit, but .. whatever. o_o And when you say "chubby" it just sounds like, normal. Not everyone can have a supermodel figure. :P I mean it's normal to have a little pouch and whatnot.
A really fast way to lose weight, try a gluten free diet. I lost about 10lbs in 2 weeks that way once, that's pretty fast according to me. x]
Oooookay! Listen up good :) This helped me lose stacks of weight and i LOVE my food so if I could, you can.
I assume you want to keep any weight off that you lose, so what I did was I MADE MYSELF FEEL LIKE I WASN'T DIETING. i.e. I ate all the same foods to begin with that I usually would eat, and I cooked the same portions. The difference was: at the start of my meal I would separate out a fraction of the meal that I would not eat under ANY circumstances, and I'd push it to the side. Over the space of about 2 months, i increased this to almost half my meal size (which made it come down to a normal portion size).
I also allowed myself to drink a lemonade or coke a few times a week, or have a chocolate, but I made it so none of these existed within my own kitchen (i.e. removing temptation), and I limited it to the point where I WASN'T MISSING OUT - because that will always make you 'fall of the bandwagon' eventually - rather I was joining in with my friends and feeling normal, while still lessening my intake.
The third thing I did was go to the gym a few times, see what I preferred doing (some people are runners, some cyclists, some swimmers etc.) and bought myself a cycling machine/exercise bike (because my suburb is not a great area to go bike-riding in). Then I parked myself in front of the TV every day, popped a DVD in and tried to see if I could make it to the end of a movie without stoppong. In otherwords, I MADE EXERCISE FUN FOR ME. You can do this anyway you want - take a pet out for a run in a park or on a beach and race them, go bushwalking on a trail, learn to rollerblade, join a dance class, volunteer at a local tennis court to pick up balls at the end of every day. Anything you can think of that might make exercise more exciting than counting crunches will make you want to do it.
Let me know how you go in this :) I wish you the best of luck!
[edit] EDIT: tldr; I capitalised the main crux of each paragraph.
FORGET THE SCALES only look at the result in the mirror. (normal) Scales don't tell you how much fat or muscles your body contains. So try to forget the weight, it'll make it easier.
Don't stop eating all bad at the same time It's only a matter of time before you can't bear it no longer and fall back to bad eating habits. It's a cycle, you'll notice that if you're already trying it for a longer period. In staid of that:
Let your body get used to it Slowly decrease the bad food you're eating. And if you'll get hungry:
Eat more healthy stuff Like fruit, vegetables, nuts or yoghurt. But don't eat too much of it, also healthy food contains calories.
Keep it movin' Exercise helps! There are a lot of things you can do. Fitness, sit-ups and push-ups, running or just a walk. You'll see that exercising also makes you feel better, fresher and healthier.
Ask someone to help you Ask your parents if they'll buy less bad and more healthy food. You will be tempted less. Also you can ask, by example, your mother to push you or join you. It's easier when you get help :)
Don't be too hard to yourself Losing weight is exhausting for your body. So take enough rest and don't feel guilty if you take a chocolate bar or a nice, sweet muffin on an off-day ;)
Good luck! I hope you'll make it :)
It sounds like you're just eating because you're bored. I had a friend who started home schooling and she's gained at least 40 pounds. This sounds like the same type of scenario.
The first thing to do is stop sounding desperate. I hate it when people say 'omg I'll do anything to be skinny'. Never go to unhealthy or unrealistic measures to drop your body weight. More often than not, that makes it worse.
I lost probably a total of 20 pounds over the last couple years, and I'm at a very thin, but normal weight now. Just eat healthy, and eat better portions. Also talk to your parents ! That's one of the keys.
My mom used to buy Nutella and peanut butter and pepperoni (for making sandwiches) and all other kinds of stuff. And if you're one of those people with very little self control like myself... you'll usually cave in and eat that stuff, no matter how much you say you won't. I asked my mom to stop buying stuff like that and buy more fruits instead, and it's really helped. A banana will fill you up faster than globs of peanut butter or chips.
Also, STOP drinking soda. That's the key thing that helped me. My mom stopped buying soda and instead if you're thirsty, have a glass of water. Water gets boring after a while, so buy things to flavor your water such as Crystal Light. They only have 5 calories, and it's basically the same taste as juice.
I really think it's possible you're overreacting though.
5'5" and you want to weigh 100 pounds ? That doesn't sound healthy. At all. Even if you have a petite build. I'm 5'3" and at 110 and I always get snarky comments like 'wow, you really need to eat more'. I'm healthy and all for my size according to my doctor, but I think shooting for 100 is very unrealistic. Dropping 40 pounds within a year could be dangerous for someone your size, let alone months.
On a side note, wight is stupid. Stick to being happy, loving yourself for who you are and eating healthily with exercise. Because you might just develop an eating disorder.
I gained about 15lbs over the past two years and I think I'm happier now than then. I just got bigger pants, but my figure has really filled out. I was really under-weight, but now I've got some curves. I do have little love handles, but I don't know that they bother me that much. I some cardio here and there and snack on fruits. Not only that but my breasts are bigger. :3
I really think it's all a mind thing. My sister is like that too, but I like her thicker. For a while she was really skinny and looking sickly. She is only 5'2''.
Also no fast food! Even if you eat bigger portions at home your home cooked meals are healthier than fast food meals. Plus it keeps change in your pocket. :x
If you want to curb your appetite a little you should drink a protein shake. They are good for you and can substitute for a meal.
don't tell anybody this, but i've heard that there's a secret way to lose weight so fast that you won't have time to cry because you'll be too busy losing weight.
... it's a thing called exercise. but shh. it's a seeckret.
Like everyone said its those two things, Diet and Exercise.
But again it would be better to also know things meant for you. Not all known diets perfectly agree with everyone. So it is best to also consult a Nutritionist or a Dietitian to plan a diet meant for you.
I did a month of core strength training (30mins/day = 5 times a week), lost 10 lbs. Currently lost a total of 20 lbs on 3rd month. I drank lots of water and removed the sodas, junk foods, and the portions of meal is divided to 5 sets for the whole day. Oh and I really need to slim down back to my weigh because of health reasons. So I am doing this for the betterment of my health with the help of nagging doctors here and there. :D
P.S Just bec. a lot says skinny is good, in the end it isn't worth being such. Having curves and all is way better as well as being healthy rather than going to extremes of starving yourself to death or a bunch of other things.
Oh and there are other extreme and expensive ways to remove those fats. But why do that to your body when you can do the natural way? :)
