^agree!
Plus, I can stay in a lower gear to zoom up a really steep hill! :D Plus, auto cars are more expensive to buy. :P
I can't believe people haven't heard of standard. ._. Maybe it's a term only we use?
YES, SHOW ME YER BABIES. POST POST POST. 8D
OMG, Texas has stupid rules too. I had blue blinker lights which are illegal, so when I went to get it inspected for the State sticker (another stupid law) it failed because of my blinker lights. >.<
I do practice on a parking lot. :] I pretty much have everything down BUT hills. Fuck hills. They frustrate me and piss me off.
I'm assuming that standard = manual, yes?
If so then I drive a manual car. Automatic cars aren't very common here, so the majority of people drive manuals.
I don't even think about gear changes anymore. Just don't take your foot off of the clutch and on to the accelerator to quickly... you need to get a nice balance between the two. :)
I totally want to race you. Haha xD
Do you race people when you drive? I get challenged ALL the time and I have yet to lose once! I love it, it just gets my adrenaline rushing like no other :P
Oh, please.
I mean, I know manual is superior. Not going to deny that, I'd be shooting myself in the foot! But errr, unless you're out on a racetrack on the weekend it hardly matters. Just another thing to worry about in stop-start traffic, behind a stream of auto-drivers in the carpark ramp whilst you're doing hill starts, etc.

You have a point though. When large numbers of vehicles are involved, it's easier to drive automatic than to constantly be switching gears in traffic, and pushing the clutch in, or accidentally stalling, or have trouble on a hill, or whatever it may be!
Automatic was designed to be easier, and it is :) All you have to worry about is the gas and brake! That allows you to focus on your driving better.
I'm not going to lie, I'm a pussy when it comes to racing. Yes! At stop lights I get challenged all the time. Then they see a short white girl driving a sports car they're all, "OH SHIT". xD Perhaps when I gain confidence I shall race them bastards. >: D
I find myself missing auto because I'm still getting used to Manual. Hopefully it'll become second nature so I can drive my car more. : x
I can't drive a stick - it stalls and I get all flustered. I especially suck at starting up again on an incline. The car keeps rolling back on me and it stresses me out something fierce. I don't even try anymore. If it's not an automatic, I ain't drivin' it! :)
I'm not flawless at driving stick, but I can do it. I think the worst part for me was learning in the car I did. No, I know that was it. I can drive my friend's Jeep no problem. :P
Regardless. I learned in a G35, and the clutch was pretty touchy. It does get easier though, and learning how touchy that clutch was helped with driving others. The best way I learned to drive was in my driveway or anywhere with a slight hill. I spent quite a bit of time just learning how the clutch felt and it helped to learn that before I got on even ground. Though it does help loads now that the back tires have been replaced. >____>
It does get easier. :3 Nice car by the way though.
I got confused when it was called standard lol.
Lovely car btw. I have a manual car, and I get SO bored driving in auto cars. I like to change gears, and I learnt in a manual from the start. I didn't learn to look at the taco, I just change when it sounds like it needs it.
Best of luck learning, you will get the hang of it in no time
ugh, i cant drive but i absolutely despise manual cars. i mean, with so many car accidents, banning cellphones while driving (that is banned in some places, right?), etc. im surprised they even still make cars that use stick shift.
idk, maybe its just me, but it just seems like it would take away at least a decent amount of concentration you should be having on the road to move around the gears.
i mean, when you drive you have to concentrate on gas pedals, the road, the stop lights, signs, traffic, pedestrians. i'll never understand why anyone would want to add in another factor to that D:
I guess auto must be an american thing. I never met anyone with a non-manual car, actually. So yes, you'll get used to it, don't worry :P
Well I learned to get used to everything, I don't stall as much. I still do once in a while because I get flustered with the damn red lights. I feel like I have to prepare for my takeoff so then I start getting nervous and then I stall.
But it's something I'm getting over slowly but very surely. Hills I'm also getting used to which is so exciting for me. :D It's like...ICANDRIVEMYCAR OMG.
