I play, and I honestly don't understand all the negativity towards it o.O; Especially from people who have never played :P

How much I play depends on how much other stuff I have to do. Right now I'm on break, so I play a few hours a day, on weekdays. Once school starts again I don't know how much time I'll have, but I definitely won't be able to play as much. I don't go through withdrawal if I can't play or anything. So I'm pretty sure I'm not addicted and no one is going to be staging any interventions.

But how much you like it will probably depend on how much you like similar games. I figure if you enjoy Final Fantasy-type games, you'd enjoy WoW. (Although on that note, I'm looking forward to FFIVX, which will be another MMO, and I'll probably ditch WoW for it xD)

I don't believe you can honestly go through withdrawals "coming off" a GAME. >.> I believe kids (and some bratty adults) just pitch a fit when they can't play any more and that's it.

I took it in sprints. I'd play near-constant for a while and then I'd be burned out. I wouldn't even look at it for about a month. Then, I'd start up again. Lather, rinse, repeat. It's awesome for a while, but then it gets old. Especially once you get a char to 80. Then you gotta gear the damned thing so you can either pvp or run instances. Both of those will make you wanna fry a squirrel in a popcorn popper after a while.

It's just a game. A very time-consuming game, but still only a game. The "addiction" is just regular people wanting to reach their goal in the game.

WoW gives me sexual gratification. It's that good.

...

No, that's a lie, but it's still pretty cool. I play it often, but by no means every day - For instance, I've only played with a friend for a couple of hours this week because of other obligations. I wouldn't let someone pay me to quit, though, since I wouldn't give up my hobbies and interests for all the jewels in the crown.

I think in order to get addicted to a game, you kind of have to have an addictive personality to begin with, so it's not the fault of WoW that people choose not to eat and neglect their kids etc.

I'm pretty sure I have an addictive personality! x__x I was addicted to WoW. But I quit a long time ago though, but I still wish I played it now and then.

I play Shaiya. And I could quit, I have for months at a time. One of the things I enjoy about it are the graphics, just the immersion in a different world. So it's not as addicting for me. There are people on Shaiya though who are harder than hardcore gamers.

Yes, I play WoW. And no, I'm not addicted. I'll play a couple of hours of it and then switch to something else. Sometimes I'll go a couple weeks without playing cause I'm trying to finish something else. WoW is one of those games that takes a LOT of time to do stuff. Mostly its traveling in my opinion. If you pick this game up, find people who play it and is willing to teach you as much as they know. I had to figure everything out on my own and I still hardly know anything compare to some people I know. Its a good game though, worth its 15$ per month.

I used to play it until my brother deleted my character. I wouldn't say I was addicted to it; it never got in the way of my schoolwork/chores/friends ect. But whenever I had a lot of spare time on my hand I could play it for hours on end. Still, I didn't flip out when my char got deleted. I was mad but I knew it would probably be better that I didn't waste any more time on that game.

It CAN be really addictive though. My bro has skipped school to stay home and play it and his grades got really bad. My parents found out and took the internet away and he threw a huge fit. It was actually worse than the video you posted, he was breaking stuff and screaming at the top of his lungs. Then again, he's always been a brat, so it's not like it's the game's fault.

Haha thats funny, and seems a bit staged. Anywho i started playing in may 05 :P i have had some off and on spurts and have always raided (to the point of needing a break)

Its a fun game but you need one thing: Self control. Without it its potientially addicting. I know a lot of people that just get bored with it after a while as well. But way many more than that become obsessed AND ITS BAD!

I won't say anything against it though as i have had a lot of good times on it and met my bf on it too. (Still together 3 years later :P ) I'd say just get a trial and see for yourself.

I play. And I play a lot. I wouldn't say I'm addicted, because I can stop playing and go do something else at any given time. But, at the same time, it's where ALL my friends are. I don't have any where I live in real life, so I play to socialize and RP. I do raid, but RP (and my friends) are the main reason I'm on the game.

That said, I do play it for hours at a time. But then, I also live in a small town with nothing to do. Seriously, the nearest Wal-mart is half an hour away. The nearest mall worthwhile? Almost two hours away. So, I take what I can get.

I think it just depends what kind of games you're into. I know someone who just started playing WoW and became completely addicted. Another guy I know plays all the time, but not on pvp servers and another guy doesn't like it at all. He prefers DotA. I personally have seen it and didn't think it was that great, then again I don't like mmorpgs and I'm not crazy about computer games.

I've seen some pretty bad WoW freakouts and I just can't see how kids become so obsessed. I blame parents for letting their kids get to that point. Maybe if they had them doing more recreational activities instead of playing a computer game for hours things wouldn't get so out of control.
