It's not really a waste if you frag the items and get the crystals. I've also gotten 8 graveyard potions from the machine.

I think I went through 2-3k tokens before my first one, pulled 7 times and got my second. Another 2k or so before I got the third.

did you get any old DP ?

yes quite a few. Whatever didn't frag I just shoved in my shop :)
