I like the idea, I've never been a fan of the Antlephore apart from Nightmare.

We have I don't know how many different canine and feline Pets so I don't think a second deer would ruin the site.

Yes please, so glad I'm not the only one that thought jackalope. I would snatch one of those up so fast.

Also glad I'm not the only one that wants a more serious deer/elk and rabbit pet. Only the nightmare Antlephore looks remotely serious and that's only because both it's eyes are the same size. I only like the nostalgic Kanis because it reminds me of the Velveteen Rabbit.

Ooh yes, I would LOVE to have a hare-inspired pet for one of my characters! Although, that's no excuse for you to be such dicks about the Kanis, guys. :| It's a popular species and it meets the needs of many people, even if we're not among them.

A more elegant deer would be amazing though, omg. I have a Ceryneian Hind character who is currently a Glacier Antlephore on Subeta, because it's relatively dignified and doesn't have crazy eyes. I'd love a jackalope or wolpertinger just as much, though. __

I love the idea of some more antlered pets. I would also like to add a suggestion to this too. What about a bison pet? We need some more big, bulky pets. I know my bison centaur would love to be something other than a Devonti right now.

I LOVE THAT SUGGESTION Honestly, this suggestion isn't merely GIMMIE A PRETTY DEER, i'd love for a new species that had various features from a couple of animals. Bison should definitely be considered into the equation

I think perhaps a boar with large antlers would be pretty interesting. Subeta doesn't have a pig like pet. Plus I would love to see subeta pull off a majestic pig-like pet.

I really like this suggestion as well. I have been looking to have a deer pet with beautiful and elegant eyes. Originally I thought of a short horn caribou species but an elk-like species would be pretty awesome too.

before the discussion gets further diluted with lagomorph talk (which imo should be a different topic, though a jackalope experiment I would very much like, since lots of experiments look like crosses between 2 species, so like a antlephore/kanis experiment cross would be cool), I would still like to repeat that I would very very very much like a majestic elk-like beauty instead of a derpy (yes, cute but its not majestic or regal ok) deer in the headlights.

I also think that the argument that "we already have a deer" shouldn't deter people wanting another deer. As stated before, we have ~4 species of canines (kumos, clawsion, jollin, montre, telenine)and ~4 species of felines (archan, celinox, feli, tigrean, demi(?)), so I don't see why not.

I would approve this so hard.

Most of the species revamps have been getting more realistic (in terms of the animal base, not nec. what it is then combined with or what states it can exist in, obviously). I really think this 'problem' (not one personally) will be dealt with eventually in that way, especially for the Kanis.

Also, I think "photorealistic, Earth-based animal" is actually pretty much the definition of 'overlay'. This is a (still somewhat) cartoony, non-Earth planet pet site.

Not that I don't like some of these ideas (Deer Sighthound? Amazeballs) but not all of them scream 'Subeta Pet' (more of an experiment if anything in many cases) plus like it or not, the Antlephore and the Kanis do fill the basic 'deer' and 'rabbit' slot. And clearly, they appeal to many as-is. We also already have MANY Ungulates (Devonti, which should have been mentioned in this thread already :p; Antlephore; Sheeta; Hikei; Bovyne; Legeica). Other than 'Mammal' or 'Carnivore' they might be the biggest 'class' of pet, unless you combine canine and feline or something.

Although not /quite/ an elk (although I did have a lot of elk inspiration in the face!), I did actually get a lot of ideas from this thread with the neela :) (the oryx was a big inspiration!) and I tried to go FULL MAJESTIC :) Hopefully this fulfils a need for a few people?!
