OH DEAR ALL THE REPLIES. BUT YAY.

I'm trying more and more to use the tablet for stuff, but for the lines and adding the base color, I still use the mouse. Up until recently I used the mouse to shade (because the pen tool in PSP made it easy) but it's such a literal pain after a while.

clothes really aren't too different from hair! At least, not to me. But I don't see why I couldn't do another one for clothing. Is there a specific kind of clothing you're wondering about?

I'm pretty sure as long the majority of the item itself has lines, an aura is totally okay. Stuff like or . Though you want to make sure the auras aren't too soft.

agh! I forgot how blurry the video was. The tool is called a bezier curve (I was being all fancy and proper with my pronunciation.) I think I only had a trial version of CS2 at some point, but I'm pretty sure there is a tool like that, though it might not work exactly the same.

HOW DIFFERENT DO YOU WORK? I think I need to watch one of your livestreams! And yes, that was my dog. She was tangling herself up in the blankets on my bed while playing with a bone. xD

it's not too hard drawing with a mouse! Nothing special! And sorry about the blurriness! The tool is bezier curve.

I am using a tablet for the sketching and the shading, but otherwise a mouse. I wouldn't even really recommend a tablet with PSP, since it doesn't seem to help that much with things like the airbrush or anywhere pressure sensitivity comes into play. I don't really know about tips for color! I just sort of play around with a lot of colors until I settle on a shade I like. I think the only tip I can really give is to try and keep your shading vibrant. We've worked on not shading with grayer shades (except on white) though I don't know how I can explain that better. Well, let's take this wig here for instance. The way I shaded it now, the darker shades are actually closer to purple, while the highlights are closer to orange and yellow. If I shaded it with black shading and gray highlights, I'd end up with this: It's not terrible, but you can see it kind of lacks the life of the other colors.

it should be shy the whole way through, omg you should hear me try to talk to people IRL (except you can't because I am terrified of doing so. xD) ANYWAY, yes, little detail lines I will sometimes do in 1px, and sometimes go over those with the 30% opacity eraser. Any area where I want to define, I do in 2px width. And yes, even non-hair items should have 3 shading layers (2 dark ones, and one highlight or more, depending on the item. We're not too strict on this, because detail is always good, but we definitely don't want to see less shading than this.) Finally, yeah up until a couple years ago, I exclusively used a mouse (I know this sounds like horn-tooting, but this would be the last image where I completely used a mouse. With the exception of the shading on the boat, which was when I got my tablet, and the sketch itself. Otherwise, all mouse, all in PSP7. Okay, that really is horn-tooting, but seriously, that image hurt.)

AND THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR THE KIND WORDS! ❤️❤️❤️ I really do hope it was helpful in some way, though I know I left some stuff out. I might try and do some more, maybe find a better program so it won't be so blurry next time.

haha you got lots of questions xDD But thanks again! The tip about highlight colors was also helpful :3

I think you're 100% justified to horn-toot in this case--that's going to trip me out every time I go to Port Plunder! The grass and the water and the stones... oof. You definitely toed the line between dedication and masochism on that one, heehee.

You can use Photoshop's pen to make curves like that, but it's an annoying tool. As far as I know there's no way to click and drag it like in the video: you have to drag the endpoints instead.

- Would you mind making a tutorial strictly for more in-depth shading process? I find your shading fascinating, but you kind of glossed over it quickly in the video... ^^;

Thanks so much for this video ! I followed it fairly closely while working on my first wearable, and I found it really helpful in getting the look right, albeit adapted for Photoshop, where I completely failed to master the bezier curve so ended up drawing the whole thing by hand... with my laptop trackpad xD I really appreciate the time you took to put the video together (:

; HOLY SHIT, that is such a useful video!!! :o I echo another user here when I say that I would love a clothing tutorial, as I am planning on drawing a custom shirt eventually. xD

Butyes, even though I use photoshop CS2 (and can't work the pen tool for anything, damn it :x) I'm sure I'll still be able to make use of it! Thank you!

Im kinda hoping you might be able to answer my questions^^; I have 4 wigs of various colors, and I know the lineart needs to be black, but could I do just the outer lines black? Like this: or does it have to be the ENTIRETY of the lineart?

And my second question, because the one part is shaved, does the shaved part require a distinguishing line along the forehead? (like it is in the above image)

If you can help me it would be amazing!! Thank you for your time!

This is lovely! I just wish there was a tutorial on Adobe Photoshop primarily. I think that'd be a lot easier for me to get a grasp on!
